Accounting and Finance

Accounting and Finance study programme is based on the latest professional and scientific knowledge. Its most important feature is that it prepares students for independent and practical work after graduation. In addition, the study programme provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of accounting, finance and taxes that are directly applicable in practice and necessary in everyday affairs.

The curriculum follows the latest accounting, financial and tax regulations in Croatia and scientific achievements in the development of accounting, finance and taxation.

The undergraduate professional study programme of Accounting and Finance is six (6) semesters long. Upon completion, one earns 180 ECTS credits and the title of Bachelor of  Economics.

Most of the students who completed the study programme of Accounting and Finance were employed immediately after the final thesis defence, while the students who had already worked in the profession made progress in performing more complex and thus better paid jobs.

Students who have completed a three-year study programme have the opportunity to enrol in the Professional Graduate Study Programme of Accounting and Finance, which is four (4) semesters long, after which they earn the additional 120 ECTS credits (300 ECTS credits in total) and the title of Master of Accounting and Finance.

Learning outcomes of the study programme
  • describe fundamental determinants of accounting and financial systems of companies, financial institutions, independent activities, non-profit organizations and budget users
  • identify different forms of accounting systems and related financial statements
  • present basic economic and legal principles in business
  • use the concept of time value of money when making business decisions
  • identify different methods of financing business and public entities
  • make payments and collections in all their forms in accordance with regulations
  • use modern information systems specific to the field of accounting, finance and taxes
  • present the essence of the business event through accounting and business books entry
  • prepare financial and tax reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards, financial reporting standards and tax framework for legal entities and individuals
  • comment on business results based on presented accounting, financial, managerial and tax reports
  • analyze assumptions, approaches, procedures and results related to accounting and financial, tax and auditing practices
  • determine the tax liabilities of private and public entities
  • link accounting, financial and tax activities in business
  • categorize business activities and their impact on business operation
  • apply legislation specific to the field of accounting and financial activities
  • distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of sources and models of private and public sector financing
  • compare the application of national and international standards in financial reporting
  • analyze the role of financial intermediaries in the modern economy
